FAJ ELECTRIC ‘JAM’ 16.02.2010

Well, we had the first ‘electric’ jam as a group for some time last night.  Malc had sorted out the hall for us to play in (Good man!), and we all trundled up with amps of all shapes and sizes, a PA, lots of guitars, and Dave even brought a laptop and projector, so we could all read the words!

Once the ‘twiddling’ was out of the way, we got down to playing some of Dave’s new material, with Gareth helping out on chords and keys (I will learn it, honest!), and playing through some of our favourites, including ‘One’ by U2. 

It was a great night, and once we got levels a little more balanced, and working out who should be playing what, things started to get a bit more cohesive. As it was our first session in a long time, things were a bit scrappy, but there is a clear game plan evolving… here’s to next month!

WE HAVE A HEADER!

Sorry to shout, but after weeks of struggling with ‘creative issues’, we now have a lovely, shiny header with our logo on it!

Now we just need some music to go with it… first session in our new venue tomorrow!

ACOUSTIC JAM 02/02/2011

Was this proof of advertising paying off? Now that the columns are a regular feature in The Communicata, more players seem to be coming out of the woodwork. In fact, it seemed at one point that we’d have to move from our cosy little corner in The Crown, as more and more folks turned up.

Now, usually, there is only me on Harmonica… this time, you couldn’t move for Harmonica players! Still, it made a nice change from guitars! There were folks form around the village, and the county, and folks from Ireland too, with Ciara and Sean making a welcome addition to the fun with tin whistle, vocals and… harmonicas! (Can you see a pattern here?)

Having more people around made for a great evening, as it pushed everyone else to play more, and join in. There were some great vocal harmonies and riffs coming from all quarters, and a great buzz about the next chapter in our ‘little’ group’s evolution. Dave had brought along TWO new songs, which we were all thrilled at, and the spirit of collaboration seriously took hold, with Dave and Gareth belting out Dave’s latest composition. The way in which the talent in the village is growing is VERY rewarding, and also inspiring… it makes you want to play more and better music, and start creating your own!

Acoustic Jam is on the first Wednesday of each month at The Old Crown from 8:00pm. As long as you don’t have to plug in, you’re very welcome! Cheers, Morgan

IT’S GROWING…

Full story to come… I’m still reeling from last night!  We had an amazing turnout for our ACOUSTIC JAM, we almost ran out of room!

FIRST POSTING

Right, it’s been about a week, so it’s time to get something up here!

The header above is a temporary one… I have to get the logo done, and now we have a ‘design by committee’, I’m on it!

Last week was a great added bonus, with our second ACoustic Jam of the month being SUCH a lovely evening… you could ‘feel the love in the room’, man. Everyone was just so happy and relaxed, and it showed in the playing.  I think everyone played brilliantly last week, and it can only get better!

We have a venue for our electric activities booked, and if  the collab we played on Dave’s new song was anything to go by, things are looking good!
